Hi All,
I am coming over to stay with relatives In Nassau, and none of them kitesurf or know much about it.
I do a lot of surfing here in Scotland and want to know what windspeeds i will expect in May (i arrive may 1st till 16th) so i know what size of kites to bring.
I have 10, 13, and 16m kites but don't want to bring them all.
And any info on great spots to go where i will find other kitesurfers, and where my girlfriend will be happy to lie on the beach.
I'll be staying near cable beach on Nassau but will travel around the island and will definately go to the out islands for 5 or 6 days if you can point me in the right direction.
Please get in touch through the forum or email me direct graeme@mediasport.co.uk

Looking forward to some bahamian wind and sun....

I just go back from an unbelieveable trip mostly in the Sea of Abaco between Hopetown and the northern extent of the Sea of Abaco.

I will try to write something up and send it to you. There are so many unreal spots out there, espeially if you have a boat. We wer on a 45' cat so we were able to go places fast and comfortbly, someimes anchoring 50' from the beach. Wind direction and rider ability will obviously play a big part in selecting a spot. Currents can be strong, look for good sand bars and good fetch.

Many thanks to several people who posted replies and suggestions in the "Bahamas" section that guided me to some incredible riding locations.

Either way you are going to love it out there. Personally I enjoyed getting out to the outer cays, very few people or detritous of development.

I used a lot of kites sized while out there for teaching and personal riding: 5m 9m 12m 16m...used the 12m & 16m for my personal riding most of the time.

I'll try to post something in the Bahamas section in the next day or so.

cheers and have a great trip

Roberto

AJ,

Sorry I never was able to phone you. My cel phone did not work and I was constantly on the run trying to catch planes, organize luggage, coordinating with my party, provisioning, check-ride, etc.

We had an INCREDIBLE time. The family I was with is continuing their sailing until the 23rd. We departed Hopetown and hopped from one awesome riding spot/anchorage to another every day, sometimes twice a day, never sitting idle too long. The cat we were on screamed along at 12+ kts in 20-30 kt winds at times...

Thanks again for your guidance and suggestions. I hope to return there some day.

all I can say is.....WOW!!!!!!
