Re: Ft Lauderdale this Friday!
Quote:
.THURSDAY NIGHT...NORTHWEST WINDS 50 TO 55 KNOTS BECOMING SOUTH 55 TO 60 KNOTS AFTER MIDNIGHT. GUSTS IN EXCESS OF HURRICANE FORCE POSSIBLE. SEAS INCREASING TO 13 TO 15 FEET BUILDING TO 14 TO 17 FEET AFTER MIDNIGHT. INTRACOASTAL WATERS EXTREMELY ROUGH. OCCASIONAL SQUALLS AND THUNDERSTORMS. .FRIDAY...SOUTH WINDS 45 TO 50 KNOTS WITH GUSTS IN EXCESS OF HURRICANE FORCE POSSIBLE DECREASING TO 35 TO 40 KNOTS WITH HIGHER GUSTS. SEAS 14 TO 17 FEET SLOWLY SUBSIDING TO 11 TO 14 FEET IN THE AFTERNOON. INTRACOASTAL WATERS EXTREMELY ROUGH. OCCASIONAL SQUALLS AND THUNDERSTORMS. Taking a kite out in those conditions, high winds, high gusts, lightening, etc. would better be described as EUTHANASIA than kiteboarding! If there is a large enough hole between feeder bands on Saturday and if the winds are sane you could consider going out. Otherwise, repeating history isn't always a lot of fun more here. Saturday may be more doable, who knows? Matt Cohen ( 561-254-1441 ) could set you up in Deerfield to Delray as he is a Cabrinha rep. The guys at Best in Delray might also be able to help you out. You could ask Chuck at delraywatersports.com if he has a rig available. He may be able to help you with a board, maybe not kites however. Damien with http://www.eastcoastkiteboarding.com in Dania may be able to set you up as well. Good luck and watchout for squalls. You never know what kind of wind one will deliver until you're in it.
