just inflate the kite and use a garden hose to spray it down.. keep it inflated until it completely dries..

never need to worry about salt water.. fresh water will cause mold/mildew..

i used to wash my kites after every session until i realized this fact..

now i have have washed my kites in nearly 2 years. not once..

unroll to shake off the sand .. but thats about it.

BTW, our "fresh water" is loaded with chlorine.

I used to rinse my kite and soak my bar and lines every time I rode. It destroyed them both in a very short amount of time. The lines lasted only 4 months.

It's ok to rinse the kite once in awhile, but definitely do not put it in the pool.

Three things you should probably soak often in fresh water however are your pulleys, knife, and bridle...

Mildew is what will destroy your kite faster than anything as it rots your seam threads. Salt prevents mildew growth ... it also absorbs free water molecules. Thats why it works so well as a preservative.

All good points guys, just saying that using fresh water to wash bird crap off is a lesser evil than leaving the crap there...
