These are some reasons I liked the other video more than most.
I get really, really bored with most videos out there. Especially when the guy looks like a dot under a kite (shot too far away).
Since I dabble in editing, I was blown away by the editing and cinematography.

i like how powered ruben's riding is. he goes HUGE all the time. Alvaro typically keeps jumps lower and spins like a top. I think Aaron Hadlow is combo of the two.. incredible smooth tricks w/ power.

i dont think folks here realize how lucky we are to have the quality of local talent that we are used to seeing.

couple saturday's ago i got to watch Billy, Scott and Noel (Best rider who frequents from the Keys) going off when the wind picked up. it was like an impromptu boosting competition with these three. I'll bet it was not even intentional, but to the onlookers it was pretty frickin awesome.

still, my fav trick from local rider is a transition that Jayson does. its like a quick spin downloop/frontroll transition but is done so smooth and effortlessly.

The biggest difference is that I just go up and come back down.
Billy and Jayson do about 52 tricks while up there.

I am still happy just to go high and land, maybe throw a trick every once in a while. That's good enough for me.

I remember when I started (windsurfing background), my goal was to to a double backroll, double front, some transitions etc. I thought it would take forever, and remember thinking "when I can do that, I will be happy".

Well, all those things were accomplised pretty quickly and I am still pretty happy. Billy and Jay are always getting better, pretty great to see.

I too would rather watch those two all day long than most PKRA stuff.
But, I bet those riders would be more entertaining if the PKRA had different "rules" on how to get high scores during an event.

Oh yeah I love that transition J does too... I was asking about it just other day trying to get the whole thing in my head. I learn a *LOT* just from studying the better riders. I learn something completely different from each of them and try to apply it to my riding...

Ruben rides balls out, no doubt about that. I am amazed he can still walk after some of the powered slap down landings from those kite loops, on a fairly big board even. Crazy.

ive tried those a few times after seeing J hit them,
easy to throw, hard to stick the landing, even harder to land smooth...actually i havent landed and rode away from one yet, but they feel awsome..
tom, thats what i was telling you to try the other day, kite high, both hands to the front, edge hard, and release when the kite pulls....easier said then done (basically a complete reverse F-16)

btw, make sure you have plenty of downwind room, i almost took a guy out my first day trying them

You're talking about something different I think... you are talking about jumping from a downloop... jayson does an unhooked jumping transition and downloops at the top (to make the transition work).

Neither Ruben nor Billy has squat on these Kung Fu Masters!
(too much idle time on 'net while playing poker....)

and proof that the soundtrack is everything. These guys look awesome.

Well, someone just tried to find "this" video on KF recently.
It sort of renewed my interest in it and I found it again, as well.

http://www.kiteforum.com/phpbb/viewt...624&highlight=

I ended up watching it ten times, back to back.
I have an awesome sound system on my computer, that makes a difference.
I was so impressed with this video, I wrote to the guy that edited it.
I guess Aaron Hadlow likes the editing too,

Here is some of what he wrote back (I took out some parts)

Hi Scott

Thanks for the message. I haven't looked at that vid
for a long time... I'd probably cringe if I looked at
it again. Took about two months to make 3 or 4 hours a
day. That was it basically all the footage I had,
which ...... (edit). Never made a
video longer than 10 mins, that would probably take a
year haha.

Some people don't like the choppy editing style but.....(edit out )

Anyways I'm just finishing off a vid for Aaron Hadlow
hoping to have it finished in the next week or two.
Watch this space, got some new fx no one has done
before in a kite vid ;-)

but yeah sound is 70% of what you see.

Cheers
Andy

Man, I can't wait to see this Aaron Hadlow clip!

Here is a link to the Ruben clip, it takes a long time to download (it's fairly high def, worth the wait, imo)
Once it does download, crank it, like Andy says, the sound is 70 percent of the video.

here is the cheese whiz, low grade download. The video is worth it just for the Beavis and Butthead "my kite is better than yours" sketch.
