JUPITER KITEBOARDING COMPETITION - 2004

Put on by Florida Kiting ( http://floridakiting.com )

Opening up ...

This is the second article on this event. The first was lost in a system crash so I have repeated some of the original photos along with quite a few new ones. This has been put together fairly rapidly so the text is a bit light. This was a lightwind event but the guys and new kite gear pulled off a great show all the same.

Take a bow Jeremy and Dave of Floridakiting.com, you guys delivered the goods! ... The Event!
Full size: http://gallery.kiteforum.com/albums/...piter_VR_a.jpg

Packing in ... Sol showed up!

Andy Hurdman flies along ... Brad Lange pops one

Safety has a long way still to go in Florida given the common lack of helmets, parking of kites in lofting position, lack of adequate buffer zones, etc.. There were quite a few leashes however, more than ever before at a Florida event and particularly among the pro riders. I hope improvement continues and without too many more avoidable injuries to motivate change after the fact.

Jeff Biege of Best Kites moves ... Damian LeRoy (the WINNER of the pro division riding for Cabrinha) and Jeff shred on out

George of Kiteflix captures Karen, a visiting model from Switzerland ... throwing spray

*** NOTE: I just reviewed rough video of the Jupiter Event prepared by George of kiteflix.com. We are talking some excellent videography and production work here. George is really tossing off some very nice videos and it just keeps getting better! Look in on kiteflix.com over the next few days for a spot on video for this event.

Kent Marinkovic skids in ... and takes the beach

The Best Girls ... Three to go

Damian flys ... The guy in the helmet shreds off, actually a champion kayaker I understand

The guys hang out ... hitting the surf

Jeff looks up while Andy slides in ... Hoofing back upwind for more

Krista Schwartz hangs out ... and flys!!!

Kite fans checking out the moves ... Flying

Jupiter Lighthouse looks over the party at the Square Grouper ... The party
Full size: http://gallery.kiteforum.com/albums/...rty_VR_1_s.jpg

Kent tosses one off ... Hamish does likewise on his signature micro board

Moving out ... the event, waiting for lofting winds!?

MEATLOAF again, uggggh! ... Oliver inverts

Luca walks his kite ... hanging out

The only rider using a helmet at the comp styles aloft ... Andy jumps to it

Victor slides along ... Best up

Mom and daughter checkout the action ...

Sun's up!

Kent packs it in, lid in place ... Bye for now

Stay tuned ... more to come
