The east coast winds ease during the summer as well. Going up the coast to St. Augustine may find more wind but it is so far to drive. Still, thermals come and go, are usually poorly predicted and don't last all that long. It's tricky.

It is too early to bring this back to the top, I hope! Have a look at it for ideas in advance to the calming of winds:

I've got good summer wind as far south as st augustine or charleston SC or wilmington NC

Bahamas don't seem to get trades or thermals until you get to the latitude of cuba or so

Much of the Bahamas has a light wind summer as we do. Some areas of the central and southeast Bahamas have trades but less reliably than some other venues. The ABC's, Margarita usually do quite well until August or September when the wind eases or dies at times. Cabarete has a good micro climate with amplified thermal and trade winds. Still, a good tropical system and that can easily get flushed in the summer. Padre Island does well in the summer, still more options.
