That sounds like one hell of a kitemare. Glad Tom is ok!

How many of your guys carry line cutters???

I don't have one but plan on buying one very soon.

Too slow...

that is not the type of circumstance where one would use one. what you need to do is quick release or eject kite not cut lines.

The time to cut lines is when tangled up in lines or kite lines caught on something like crab trap

Yeah no way you could reach a knife in time... it all happened in about 6 seconds.

Kill the power and crash it first .. your hands are already on the bar. Then release or unhook while it's not powered and you have some time to find the release.

If it tries to relaunch crash it again.

This will buy you a lot of time and make it clear to others you are in trouble and not just riding into shore to land.

Line cutters could be next on the safety discussion topic of the week, maybe?

I am interested in what riders think is the best approach of where to store them. In the back on the harness velcroed in seems pretty dumb to me! Yet, I haven't made efforts to move mine, so I am just as guilty of being dumb/lazy.
