While maintaining a low profile, this didn’t stop Lou from continuing to develop his unique riding style, products or vision of establishing his own kiteboarding company. Now, Lou is getting ready to jump back into the spotlight as he gets ready to realize his dream and launch his new company, Wainman Hawaii.

La Ventana Classic Kite Race and KiteXpo Demo Event, Jan 24 -28: A great event just got even better! For the past two years, Red Bull, Palapas Ventana and Baja Joe’s have sponsored the La Ventana Classic in Baja, Mexico, a 10.5 mile race whose proceeds benefit the local schools. For 2008, the La Ventana Classic has partnered with The Kiteboarder Magazine to also include a KiteXpo demo event, similar to the highly successful KiteXpo in Pismo Beach, CA (Pismo’s event will take place April 12-13, 2008). So far Slingshot, Cabrinha, F.one, Ocean Rodeo, Freak Dog, and Best have committed with a minimum of seven other kite companies and area businesses pending. Intermediate or higher level kiteboarders will have the opportunity to kick the tires and test all the new gear from the top manufacturers in our sport. Raffle prizes will be donated by the manufacturers which will also benefit the local community. Combined with a freestyle expression session, short buoy racing and other festivities over the course of five days, The La Ventana Classic and KiteXpo promises lots of fun and camaraderie, all for a great cause.
