Default Tampa Bay Kite Masters 24 hour Notice!!

Welcome Riders and Sponsors.
http://www.tbkm.org/email.htm
This is your 48 hour notice!!

We are still go for the race. I have been watching and reading every weather model out there since yesterday. It looks like everything is coming together for Sunday. I predict a early squall line around 3 or 4 am and it looks to be blustery after that. Please be at the Sand Key State Park by 9:30am to make sure you are signed in. We will hold tight until the radar looks clear before we make the call to race.

We will be parking at the southern most tip of the Sand Key State Park and kites need to be setup on the beach off the state park beach. Bring plenty of quarters for parking.

Here is a link to the course map. http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UT...,0.439453&z=11

The Finish line and after party is at the Trade Winds Resort, look for the big blue slide as your land mark. They have been gracious enough to give us free limited parking (no trailers).

It also looks like because of Spring Break a lot of hotels are booked. If you are in need of a place to stay for the night call me or get in touch of some local riders to see if you can crash with them.

Don't forget about the Kick off Party this Saturday 6:00pm at Water Sports West! It's going to be off the hook.

If any one has any questions or needs, feel free to email or call me.

Thanks

Just like to add that there is a trolley system along the entire race course. They cost $1.75 (in quarters) and you must be wearing booties. I think with the temps it will be a given that you will have a suit on.

With that said, rest assure that if you have any problems along the way, it is easy to self rescure to shore, pack you gear, and head out to Gulf Blvd. to find a trolley stop.

I am sure Chris will go over this during the race meeting, but just thought I would throw it out there that we have this convenience along the route for those unsure if they will make it the whole way.

Sounds like things are coming together well for the event. Hope the winds are spot on for the run. I won't be able to make it over unfortunately and will miss out on the fun. So be sure to put up some pictures of the action! Best part, it is all for an excellent deserving cause, thanks for that. I sent in a donation to help out. Have a blast!

p.s. Hang in their Kent, there's still Jupiter and perhaps Christophe will do a roundwinder to Boca Chica or something this year?! Oh, remember to stand on your head every once in a while to get blood back to your feet while in HK.

Looks like the first squall line just passed and the winds have turned on from the NW. Seeing the SW flow in advance can be disturbing until the typical 90 degree wind shift kicks in with the passage of the leading edge. Another section of the leading edge of this wet front to go, looks like it is moving fast too.

The livecam at the Tradewinds Resort on St. Pete Beach. You can see the windshift and squall line at the leading edge move through in the animation. The image above was taken after the wind shift to the NW.

Hope things come together real soon for a great race!
