Default New Flexifoil ION4

Saw this on kiteforum.com Looks like they worked out the issues of the bladders and valves.

I also like the way they removed the center strut. Should be a lot cleaner air flow. Just have to pump up one extra strut now.

Not a big fan of the new color scheme but I would still test one out.

Doug Widmann, instructor for WatersportsWest has a new quiver of Ion 4's.
Doug has been a huge fan of the Flexi product and is superstoked about the new kite.
Lighter construction, more power and response, and more options are just a few things Doug likes about the kite. He is also extremely stoked about the stability of the kite.

Doug's Flexi's are available for demo so contact the shop or hit him up on the water.

Finally, we just took our first order for a quiver of Ion 4's and look forward to placing many more. Flexi has finally set up distribution in the US and we are pleased to hear that alot of this kites minor complaints have been worked out. We feel that with US distribution, inventory, parts, and warranty claims will be easier and faster to process.

Doug will also have the Neutron as well which is a great kite for all levels of riders priced at $1240 for a 12M complete.

Contact the shop to set up a demo appt. with Doug.

Thats exciting news since we have a local pro rider that rides for flexifoil it will be nice to have a local shop that carries the brand as well.

My biggest hang-up with the Flexi kites I own are the leaky valves. Once I replaced my valves I couldn't be happier, they make a great product.

The leaky valve issue has been addressed with the Ion 4's but for those who have older Ions I have two theories on the issue.

1) The glue just sucks that holds them on. Once they start to leak they literally almost fall off the kite.

2) Anytime you pull open a valve from the male side, unless you hold down the female part of the valve you are putting an extreme amount of pressure on the female part of the valve. These valves are glued from the inside of the bladder and when you pull it open you are literally pulling the female part of the valve out of the kite.

I know this, because I have replaced about 5 or 6 valves on 2 kites.

Default valve issues

I've been hanging with the developers of "Kitefix" in the OBX this week. They did a miraculous repair on a 9m Hypertype that blew out on me earlier this year. I was hesitant about sending the kite out for repair - not sure if the kite was still worth the expense (maybe $150 to $180 for the sailmaker plus shipping?) The kite looks great, flies like new.

They also have a valve repair kit that utilizes your OEM valve with a special double-sided adhesive tape.

I will write a more detailed report on the kite repair system soon. Until I saw how well it worked I had my doubts. Now I think this product should be in everyones "kite first-aid kit" especially if you travel to remote places...or simply if you do not want to miss a day (or weeks) without your kite. The repair can be done in about 1 hr.

I believe Extreme Kites carries the product.
