Default College Kiteboarding Clubs

Eckerd College started a kiteboarding club last year called Triton Kiteboarding. The purpose of the club is to not only introduce college students to the sport in a safe and controlled way, but to also try and create a possible circuit with other schools, if not we´d settle for a few good sessions at different spots followed by some good college fun. However, through some networking i have found only several school ranging from texas to michagan if anyone is aware of other College/ university Kite clubs or is interested in starting one please contact me at sextonmg@eckerd.edu. hope the hurricane gives you all good wind, thanks

I think there are or were clubs at:

University of Central Florida. Nick was the guy that started it but I think he may be teaching in Turkey currently for the kitehouse. Get in touch with Paul at paulmenta@msn.com for Nicks email address.

I remember reading something about one at the University of Florida sometime back. You might get in touch with student activities up there to try to learn more.

I suspect that University Clubs may be just starting and/or loosely organized at this point.

Question, does Eckerd College accept and give receipts for tax deductible donations for clubs such as yours, i.e. kite gear?

Good luck

josh your in dude im all for giving back to any of the local guys, and considering im in charge of the club i have the ability to do that, whether its testing new gear, an after session party, or a school sponsored concert or something just say the word

rick, i went down to the kitehouse key west this year and rode with nick, they do still have a club i just havnt been able to get in contact with them yet, but thanks for the heads up i have no doubt the other florida universities do too. as for the tax deductable question im gonna have to work on that one, the waterfront does do it for boats and gear like that, but ill try and pull some strings come september and see if i can get that goin on.
thanks for the help
matt

there could be but south winds would be pretty much onshore, it would have to be east or west and theres a sea wall so its sketchy but its doable, we plan on doing a bunch of downwinders to and from tierra verde

Yo Matt,
Good to see you have the club up and running. I'm out of Turkey and into the U.K. right now. I'll be back in Key West in October for the season. Maybe we can plan a competition for all the colleges this season. Maybe something over Spring Break. If anyone is trying to get a college club going and needs some advice just shoot me an e-mail at nickucf@yahoo.com
Later~Nick
