Default Cabrinha Race Series-2008

Cabrinha Kiteboarding is pleased to announce the start of the 2008 Cabrinha Race Series. Beginning it’s third year, the Cabrinha Race Series is not only the premier kite racing event in the world, it has led the way for the US Sailing Association to recognize KiteBoards as an official class of boat, the creation of the first ever US Nationals, and the introduction of kite course racing around the world, including the PKRA Tour (professional kite rider’s association); all of which are steps towards an eventual Olympic competition.

With sponsors like Cabrinha Kiteboarding, the St. Francis Yacht Club, Ozonetravel, and Adventure Sports Miami, all leaders in their respective fields, it's easy to understand the success of the Cabrinha Race Series and it’s leadership in the expansion of kite course racing around the world. The 2008 Cabrinha Race Series already has 51 participants signed up for this season’s 13 race series; double from 2007

Thanks for posting Steve. That thing looks awesome! I hope to make it out to SF Bay for a race or two before the Nationals. Things are starting to pick up in S. Florida for racing, but people are a bit slow to pick on the racing directionals. The real benefit here is that it lowers the wind threshold down to 10 MPH for those that have them.

As you know, the Wind Over Water is fast approaching in Corpus Christi, Texas. A few of us are heading over for the race to check out our boards. I understand that the current PKRA race leader, Sean Farley will be there as well as Jeff Kafka, SF Bay's most dominant racer. They currently have about 25 riders signed up, so I'm guessing that we should end with 40 plus racers. There is also an expression session for freestyle riders as well. I believe that they have $5,000 in prize money so far. If you think your fast or can smack it around with some freestyle, head to the WOW May 9th-11th. See you there.
