Default Stolen CrazyFly & Mystic Harness Returned!

Hey everybody.

Just want to update you with the news that my board and harness have been returned!

Long story short; an admittedly very drunk at-the-time individual saw the proximity of my board and harness to the trash cans at beach access 12 (I had started to leave the beach but was asked to bring down a kite so dropped my stuff where I was), put 2 and 2 together, came up with 7, and walked off with board and harness thinking that they had been thrown away. The following morning I placed a sign at the entrance to beach access 12 explaining that if someone had seen the items where they were and thought that they were being thrown away, in fact, they were not and that I would please like them back. Well, the individual who took the stuff returned to the beach this afternoon, saw my sign, called me immediately and explained what happened, including how much alcohol he had consumed. I went to his house after he returned home just a few minutes ago and picked up the board. He was very apologetic and would not accept any money, beer or reward of any kind for his honesty.

Faith in humanity restored.

Thanks to all of you, particularly Kiter Joe, Dan A., Rob M. and Shaun M, for your interest and suggestions.

Take it easy. See you out there.

Tim Scanlon

PS. It is not lost on me that I bear some of the responsibility for what happened here. I should not have left my gear where I did and I should not have allowed myself to become as distracted as I became; not just landing a kite, but then engaging in conversation with multiple people afterwards, which I did. However, I have to say that there were 3 kiters, 3 kites and all of the attention that kiting draws within 50 ft of the stuff. I could not imagine a person not seeing all of that and at least checking first before walking off with something unless the intent was to steal it. Nonetheless, lesson learned.
