Kiteboarding Research:Risk Management,Participation,Injuries

Hi my name is Kevin, and as part of my doctoral studies at Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions I am investigating participation levels in kiteboarding and events that lead to the occurrence of injuries in kiteboarding.

I have developed an on-line survey that is 100% anonymous and confidential.
Would you mind filling out the survey?

You can enter the survey even if you have not had any kiteboarding injury. I need 281 subjects to have a valid study. I have included the Sign-Up form which can be accessed through;

The information from the survey is going to be vitally important for kiteboarders considering risk management issues, orthopedic surgeons and rehabilitation specialists in understanding the unique causes of injury found within the sport of kiteboarding.

Once you have read the consent information and sent it back to us, the software will send you out the survey which should take about 3-4 minutes to fill in.

I suggest, if this is a legitimate survey, that you take the time to come down to the beach and meet a few of the local kiteboarders and do the survey face to face and one on one.

Surveys such as the one you are requesting information for can have negative outcomes.....

Question for you....do you plan on posting results or information regarding the information you collect?

Kevin lives in Oahu, so he will likely be barred from visiting Florida all that soon. We have communicated at some length via email so I believe the study is quite legitimate. It should take about 5 to 10 minutes and may help medical professionals in dealing with our injuries in the future and may even help to avoid some. The study is to be published in a medical journal and will also be likely to be available online.

Please help out with your input in the survey. It is open to all kiters.

Thanks for taking the time to clear up that request….after seeing that the only post from member KKS were for information regarding injuries, it appeared to me that this may be a possible spammer……..sorry if I may have jumped the gun.

Thanks! There have only been a few studies like this worldwide since kitesurfing got started. It should do some good.

I would have possibly concluded that it was a spammer too but for the fact that I am getting a dozen or more of the damn things emailing me daily to get on this site. As a result, not very many seem to be getting on anymore.
