Default Cabrinha announces the 2011 cabrinha race series

CABRINHA ANNOUNCES 2011 CABRINHA RACE SERIES

Cabrinha is pleased to announce the 2011 Cabrinha Race Series. This will mark the SIXTH season of this premier series that introduced kite course racing to the world. The series, hosted by the prestigious St. Francis Yacht Club, has established itself as ground zero for kite board racing world wide. With most of the world’s best racers and champions having participated in the series, it has been a proven training and test ground for racers and equipment alike.

John Craig, former Race Director of the St Francis, and now with the America’s Cup, used his experience with the Cabrinha Race Series to secure the establishment/recognition of a kiteboard class with the US Sailing Association and then the International Sailing Federation.

The 2011 Cabrinha Race Series will be held over six months, April-Sept with 13 scheduled nights of racing consisting on average of 3 races per evening. The 2011 schedule is: April 7/21, May 5/19, June 2/16/30, July 14/28, Aug 4/18, and Sept 1/15. Participants may sign up for the entire series or just evening by evening. Sign ups can be handled online at http://www.stfyc.com.

2011 will see the return of the Gold/Open Fleet, we anticipate a Production and Women’s Fleet, and new for 2011will be a Silver Fleet. All Fleets will start, race and be scored together. The Silver Fleet will be established after the eighth scheduled night of racing with competition over the last five nights of racing. Refer to the Sailing Instructions (SIs) on the St. Francis website.

No event, especially one of the stature of the Cabrinha Race Series could exist without the support of sponsors. In addition to Cabrinha
http://www.cabrinhakites.com and the St. Francis http://www.stfyc.com whose highly recognizeable names and credibility provide immediate legitimacy to the series, Ozonetravel of Miami, Fl. http://www.ozonetravel.com and Captain Kirk’s of San Pedro, Ca and La Ventana, BCS, Mx, http://www.captainkirks.com have signed on again as 2011 sponsors…both with very familiar names and a history of success. Ozonetravel is back for the fifth year of sponsorship while Captain Kirk’s is back for his second.
