Velocity Games Kicks Off Memorial Day Weekend

For Immediate Release

Corpus Christi, Texas -- The Velocity Games rocked the world of windsurfing and kiteboarding with its debut in 2003. Back for its third year, the 2005 Velocity Games will once again break new ground and take place from May 26 through May 30 on the shores of Corpus Christi, Texas. Hundreds of athletes will be pushing the limits of kiteboarding, windsurfing, and sk8boarding in this multi-sport, five-day event which will award over $45,000 to the winners of the three disciplines. It will be a party on and off the water with great live music and other on-site activities.

The world's best kiteboarders will compete in two events for the kiteboarding division. The first event will be a Boarder Cross course involving technical strategies and huge jumps. It is the same concept as boarder cross on the snow. This will allow for something different in the kiteboarding scene and also allow spectators to see the true extreme side of the sport when competitors have to launch 5, 10, or even 15 feet or more into the air to clear the obstacles.

The second event is titled the Expression Session and will allow competitors to go out on the water and really lay it on the line. In this event competitors will go out in five-man heats ranging anywhere from 30 minutes to one hour. Spectators will witness the most innovative and up and coming moves in kiteboarding as riders flip and trick their way to win $15,000 in prize money and gear.
