Wow Jay,

That came out pretty slick. It looks like you just took the tramploine and set it on the ground.

Looks awesome! My yard has too many roots to bury mine... what keeps the hole from collapsing around the trampoline edges?

The tramp sits on 8 4x4 pressure treated posts buried 4 feet into the ground. These are connected to 8 outriggers set back 36" and buried 2 feet deep. All the posts are set in concrete. Between the posts is pressure treated plywood that holds back cave-ins. There are 8 more PT posts helping support these.
Yesterday we had 3" of rain in 45 minutes. Every street was flooded but the tramp was fine and actually had ZERO water in the hole underneath.

I spent a long time trying to engineer the strongest and most cost effective way to make this happen. I wanted grass right to the edge of the tramp which made it more difficult due to the chance of cave-in. The PT retaining wall should hold for 5 years. The posts for 10-15 since they are in concrete.
Costs: about $300 in material (not including tramp) and $10,000 in sweat labor!

Here are pics from underneath.

Can that quickly double as Reef's sandbox? or too hard to get tramp off?
If so, I am quadrupally (word?) impressed! Nice.
It's already cool, but if you scored a play box and brownie points with Julie all at once... holy moly!!!

"Old fat guy playing with baby on beach while momma kites"

I'm trying to land it blind with a kiteloop ;0)~

And Yes Scott, the top does lift off easily for use as a sandbox and for dog poop cleanup
