Default Stuart?

What is Stuart like both as a place in general and for kiteboarding? I was just recently speaking with a couple of retiree non-kiteboarders who both love Stuart. Is it a cool town? A retirement community?

Stuart is a small, low key place with a redeveloped historic district, fairly empty beaches with some rock outcrops, the House of Refuge, the Navy Seal Museum and wide Intracoastal areas. It is a pretty sharky place, some of the earliest attacks I have heard about in Florida occurred there as did the first fatality in kiting worldwide to my knowledge. All those attacks happened during the blacktip migration however. I ride there a few times a year to shoot things. It is about 45 min. drive north of kitebeach in Jupiter and a bit further to points south. It is about a half hour south of Ft. Pierce Inlet. It is a wave spot in large measure in the open ocean as are both Jupiter and Ft. Pierce. Some guys go kiting in the Intracoastal but it is a bit narrow and has some wind rotor with tight launches. For the Intracoastal in strong westerly winds you would do better at Sebastian State Park further to the north. What other questions do you have?
