Colin and I rode skyway last night! It was freaking awesome! It was blowing between 16-20 knots and we were well powered and boosting.

I had a few idiotic moments like when self launched to find my board hanging from my lines about 20 feet up. The line had pulled into the velcro and the board would not budge. I did 10 minutes of some pretty creative flying and crawling to finally get the board close enough to remove the velcro from the lines.

Then, a truck pulls up and points his headlights on us so he can watch us jump.... I got blinded by the headlights, ran aground, and when I fell my bar hit the ground and sent my kite from one side of the window to the other. I ended up doing this big unexpected horizontal pendulum swing transition and landed FLAT on my stomach about 15 feet onto the beach in soft dry sand!

I bounced twice, and immediately, my kite, now over water, rockets me back into the water at top speed.

I'm sure the guy in the truck though this was some sort of trick and was impressed.

LOL it was an interesting night, but the riding was good.

it looks like it might peak up around 10 or so, might be our last chance for a night ride for a few days, maybe we should do LP around 8 or so for a few hours

BTW, if you are riding LP, remember, it's actually a SNEAK ride. We are not supposed to be out there riding (it's 100M from the airport), especially at night. The park closes at dusk, and the parking after 10 is prohibited on that side of the road.

It was less of an issue when there were just two people showing up at night, but now with 4 to 6 people showing up at midnight we could be booted out of there quickly with just one complaint by the rich people who live there. Simply stating that we are too close to the airport would be more than enough.

So... try to rig up and blow up your kites far away from the vehicles... keep the noise down, stereos off, lights off, try not to be too loud, and try to avoid standing by the cars talking before and after riding.

The goal is to go unnoticed.

I know, I forget once in awhile too, but this is important. We already know that we will not be able to ride there much longer...

The skyway would be better if there are going to be large groups or repeated night riding sessions.
