Default How did it go this weekend?

I was up in Orlando at DEMA and in Blue Springs with the manatee and tilapia (in Florida?) this weekend. Got some wind the first couple of days and then checked out. How did this honking strong wind weekend go?

aw man...it has been great!!! No problems, injuries...just BIG wind

Lots of people came down to Islamorada...lots of downwinders from the Whale to the Moorings and Anne's... Joe Ruscito, Billy Parker, Shannon Best, Stacey Fonas, Brian Wheeler, Brandon ?? (young ripper) Jordan ??, Jason ??, Alex Blochenger, Neil Hutchinson, Dameon Leroy just to name a few...and tons of other big wind rippers...(sorry if I mispelled names or left you out - help me out!)

Some massive kite loops this weekend...massive - just wait till some photos of Joe are released...

all in all its been a fun weekend...everyone is beat!

it's still going strong...tomorrow, more onshore so be careful!!!

anyone else have fun?

and props to the whole team at Seven for all the hard work with launching and landings, boat and ski rescue, rentals and demos, etc...you all rock!!! Mia, Bobby, Karri, Isa, Matt, Trent, Chris, Albert, Thomas, Kelly - without you all it wouldn't happen!!!

Totally agree, great winds, small kites, good friends (old and new). I was at Annes most of the weekend for the SS demo and shop perty at the Otherside. Mikey, Shana, Noel and the rest of the crew thanks for the hospitality and good times. Think we are going to have a lot of skydivers kiting very soon!

Thanks for the reports guys and for the nice video Enrique! Adding images to the words helps even more. Looks like things went off all weekend in the Keys. How did things go in the land of waves further up the coast?

Re: the post on kiteforum and guys rigging too big at launches for actual wind. This is what Paul and I were concerned about when we put our posts up in advance of the really strong winds. Best thing we can do is to talk with the people, try to avoid having them launched, etc.. No one wants a death or even injury at their launch. With your help and that of your friends at the local launch, it might never happen.

thanks Enrique - good seeing you guys again...thanks for helping out (and your crew) on the beach

the weekend keeps going... a group of us went to Bahia Honda today (it was freakin awesome) and I just want to make sure everyone knows the rules down there: If you go down there, go in the park and drive north as far as you can go. Keep all gear on the beach north (east) of the last boardwalk. Ride north (east) of the last swim zone marker ONLY. You will get a $75 fine for breaking the rules (and a conch shell shoved up your a$$!!!)

Man, you guys are going to have to get bold up there at Math and Crandon...shut those kiters down! When big wind hits on a weekend run around the beach and talk to everyone...be the kite police, who cares. Save the launch.
