I feel pretty safe with my clamping leash. My surefire is even better but the QR slips down a bit sometimes, lost my 25.5 M Machine at the Backside once and was VERY lucky to get it back without a scratch.

Carabiners don't have QR's on them, if you get stuck in a sticky situation it is always best to have both a CL QR and a leash QR just in case...I don't want to be 'locked in' to anything. I'd much rather have a trashed kite than a trashed face and as long as plenty of WD-40 is applied to the clamping leashes they should prove to be pretty reliable. The problems occur when you let the clamp rust and it sticks open or shut...
