As the land cools off, the winds "fill in" near shore. I think they are really just sinking from the doming effect losing strength as the day cools.
The winds can pick up REAL fast as the land cools. We see it out in the channel before we get it on shore.

Yep. Same thing. We are all waiting on the beach and can see the wind line coming in. A couple of times I have got solo sessions in because I was willing to wait a little longer. Funny thing is that there are kiters close by. As soon as my kite goes up and they see movement, they show up.
