I've thought long and hard on adding footstraps to my board and heres the way I see it. The skim padz with the adhesive that stick onto your board are pretty sweet and I've heard they hold up quite well and no drilling is involved on the board. I haven't heard any real problems about the adhesive coming off or the footstraps themselves (BTW- I don't think footstraps are included in the cost of the padz, you'll prob have to buy those separate). Steve from WSW told me that he had put them on for a couple people and they held up very well. However, the only thing I don't like is you only have spots for ONE foot placement. It might not make a huge difference on your 5'4", but I've got a 6'2" and your foot placement for free riding is a little farther forward than for wave riding and if I'm spending a bill on footstraps I would need some diversity. I would be more keen on drilling in two separate foot placements for wave and freeriding. I'm pretty sure they could do it at WSW for cheaper than it would be to buy the skim padz and you'd have a little more diversity out of the board.

Let me know how that pans out,
-Bizel

You don't really need footstraps, although it really makes it a lot easier to waterstart since you have a firm anchor to the board. Once you get going you absolutely don't need them, unless you are turning hard on a wave. Frontstrap only needed for waterstarts or jumping, backstraps for turning on waves and upwind

i'm considering the same thing, i first found out about the NSI pads from DC boardz website http://www.dcboardz.com/accessories.html

there is another option: surf tech Pads & Straps
http://www.realkiteboarding.com/inde...roductID=9284#

Both products look great, the surftech retails at $130 (includes everything)
I'm still not sure what to get, so keeps us updated

Thanks for the responses!

Yeah... I'm not even sure whether or not I am GOING to put straps on this thing...

I was hoping someone had tried them and had good or bad things to say about the products.

I'll talk to WSW and see what they have to say.

My friend has a 5'2" carbon Retro fish that he put the NSI pads and straps on. I have ridden the board and really liked the NSI straps on them. This way you can boost over the break when going out, and helps you slash the waves harder. Yeah I could ride the board without the straps, but I think it just makes it easier. One less thing to worry about.

If you do get them make sure you clean your board before putting them on. I know he has some issues with them starting to come off after a while. I think he just glued them back down with superglue I think, and that seemed to take care of the problem.

Thanks man! That's the kind of feedback I've been looking for! You can take the straps on and off, so it could still be riden either way.

Now.. how to get all the wax off... hmmm...

Put your board in the sun for like a hour. Then take a old credit card and start scraping. It comes off pretty easily.
