Default 55mi JUPITER TO FT. LAUD. RUN THIS SAT & MEGALOOP!!!

This just in from Neil Hutchinson:

"Hi guys the forecast looks great this weekend for the east coast, unfortunately I am going to be in Tampa. Demion Thomas and Alex are doing a dress rehearsal downwinder from Jupiter to Tiki Beach this weekend. Anyone who want's to join them give them a call.

Also check out the Kiteloop video
http://www.kitecinema.com/len10/len10-loop-8bft.mp4

this is the biggest loop I have seen.

Cheers all Neil"

If you are interested in doing this 55 MILE side off downwind run in winds that may range from 15 to 25 kts. and some major surf by current estimates, PM ricki so that I can pass along Damien's and Alex's phone numbers to you. Could be narly and fun but not to be taken on lightly.

I'm planning on riding East Coast this Sat...

I talked to Kent a little while ago, the run to Miami is on hold and the Jupiter to Ft. Laud. run is on.

I just spoke to Alex about the Saturday run and wanted to pass some things along.

- 55 miles and likely 3 to 4 hrs.+ of banging on the same muscles.
- Seas are forecast to be 9 to 12 ft. with vicious nearshore breaks.
- Winds are forecast to be 20 to 25 kts. NE
- Riders will be crossing FOUR inlets and zones of disturbed, even bigger seas.
- There are NO sponsors, organizers, chaseboats, support crews for this session, it's just EVERY rider for himself. It's casual and it's likely to be intense. Guys will also have to figure out their transportation as well, no communal buses this time around.

If you drop your kite in the break it may well get trashed. If you get caught in your lines when this happens, you might get trashed as well.

Riders will be using the same muscles on the same tack for HOURS in heavy seas. Hydration may be an issue and you may want to figure out how to bring along a cellphone. Working payphones along A1A have become a rarity. Newer reliable gear, lines would be a good idea.

It should be interesting, intense and not a easy ride in any sense. Last week's 25 mile+ downwinder off St. Pete may seem to have been a stroll in the park by comparison. It wasn't easy either.

On the plus side, it's Warren Miller Skiing Nite at the Movies in Ft. Lauderdale, Saturday evening! This is a 50 YEAR+ tradition to kick off skiing season. Hope to see you there.
