Default Another Night-Cabrinha Race Series

ANOTHER NIGHT- CABRINHA RACE SERIES

Sorry for the delay in reporting…had more issues than normal. So, on the way to Crissy, I checked the wind and Anita was reading ZERO???? As a result, the rest of the way I was waiting for an email indicating the race was cancelled…never got one. Drove into the parking lot and white caps everywhere….riders overpowered on 13/14s and rigging down to 11s/12s…even big Brian Lake. Seems, local hot shot Jeremy recently took out the sensor. At race time, the wind dropped so the 33 racers left the beach with their 12-14s.

Hots shots…Brian, Joey, Chip, Geoff, Stefaans were all there as well as Johnny came up from school and Adam V from the NW who used tonight as a final tune up for the Master’s Worlds…seemed to pay off as Adam finished 2nd overall…CONGRATS!

The start of the first race saw Headington and Reed start on port while the rest of the fleet chose starboard. At the windward mark it was Heineken who then chose a middle/outside line downwind and Headington who chose the inside. They were followed by Vance and Wasson. At the leeward mark it was Heineken, Chip, Headinton and Vance. Heineken and Chip held their positions at the finish, Vance overtook Headington, and was followed by Stefaans and Lake.

The second race saw some 10+ try their hand at a port start. Again, it was Chip and Heineken at the windward mark. Johnny chased Chip all the way downwind, and overtook Chip at the leeward mark and jibbed inside of him at the mark to seal the deal. They were followed by the usual suspects which also included Reed this time.
At the finish it was Heineken, Chip, Vance, Stefaans, and Lake.

The final race of the night saw two of the worlds premier kite skim boarders and competitive sailboat racers, Joey and Lake start on port… the rest chose starboard. At the windward mark a big hole developed which caused serious issues for most of the fleet. At the finish, the survivors were Heineken, Vance, Joey, Wasson, Reed, Lake and Stefaans in that order.

For the evening, overall it was Heineken first with 3 bullits, followed by Wasson and Vance with 8 pts., Stefaans with 16 pts. and Lake with 17.

In the production fleet it was Joey atop the podium followed by Eric Due and Anthony Chavez. In the women’s fleet, it was Eugenia Gueorguieva with 2 bullits and Boriana Viljoen with the other bullit.

Next Race this Thursday, May 21. The Cabrinha Race Series is sponsored by Cabrinha, OzoneTravel, and Captain Kirk’s and hosted by the St. Francis Yacht Club.

Nice write up and great shots Steve! It is interesting to see so many kites locked in close together like that. You are blessed with good winds out that way too, enjoy!
