The wind sensor may be accurate for the middle of the bay, which is where it is located, but it is reading about 5 to 8 high for our actual riding area.
By 9am, the wind had died to about 10 to 13. Currently, and for the last 2 hours, it has barely broken 8 in the gusts and averaging about 5 to 6.

If I had to guess, I think the sensor itself is spot on for the channel. Wish we had a similar sensor where we actually ride because it's definitely windier three miles out in the channel. Oh well, it's still much better than nothing, and if I had to guess, the sensor is going to prove more useful to us than last season.

About 20 kiters were out there this morning. It was decent and fun to see everyone there.

I got to ride Raul's 17m Contra. Seemed like a nice improvement over last year. If the kite is staying in the sky, you are riding, basically.
Scott Wolfe let me demo his 15m Monkey kite. That kite really kicks it in right at about 11 knots and was fun.

At my size, I actually felt overpowered on the 17 Contra in the "gusts" to about 13 knots. Definitely a big boy kite

yeah, the 17m contra is definitely alot faster turning than last years, built better and seems more stabile. Stability should translate into better high end and low end. Only got to try out the low end, which for me seems to be 10-12 on a glide; or if you are lower weight maybe 8-11. I don't think I had the trim setting down properly on the bridle yet, I'll have to optimize that.

The Xbow 12m tho'........ geez, can't wait to try that sport kite out, Lori had that thing dialed in what ? 11-12 kts? looky very nice!

Looked good to me.
I think if you can't ride the 17m Contra, you can't ride anything, would be my guess. It did seem better than last year's, for sure.
That's a big kite though, as was that 12. When is Cabrinha gonna buy a better measuring tape? Wolfie's 15m Monkey literally looked like a 12m next to the 17m Contra in the sky. It was pretty funny.

Hey, the sensor is down to 5. It doesn't seem to suffering "pegged syndrome". I think it might be a pretty useful sensor this season, as long as you realize the wind stays a little longer in the a.m. out in the channel.
