lol...yeah I wasn't sure what he was up to hiding amongst the trees. He looked unsure of himself. I asked if he planned on heading out and he just kind of looked at me....didn't really say much.

A 12m C in that situation is a very bad idea.
It was gusting to 35 at TI. That would have really bad.
Hybrids can depower SO much more, it's night and day.

So true Scott. I love my Flexifoil Atoms and IONS. It makes having a 2 kite quiver a reality.

Did you mean disconnect or depower?

If you really meant disconnect then the broken buckle was just an inconvenience, but the lack of ability to kill the kite or release it is a problem you need to get sorted out asap.

Worst case... imagine what would have happened if you got tangled in a crab trap and pulled under water? How quickly could you have released the kite?

Most people don't realize that if they get tangled in a crab trap, they are going under water in about 4 seconds and STAYING there as the kite pulls the float down wind.

Make sure you can ditch the kite in about 2 seconds with your eyes closed (by feel only).

Yep, 2 kites. I remember when I had 5. Even then... changing them (due to changing conditions) or guessing the right one to rig was a drag.

Oh I meant disconnect. Kind of hard to kill a kite you can't detach from....and I couldn't even reach the depower strap anyways. At that point it was too far out of reach. I had it in my mind that if I started to get too close to shore while the kite was getting squirly, I was going to unzip my harness and let the whole mess go. Would only have taken a few seconds, even if the kite was powered.
