Thumbs up A Big Woot!!

As everyone knows the Tampa Bay Kite Masters was held last week. We had a young rider Ross Bond who has only been riding for about 7 months entered our contest. For those of you that know Ross, he is a very nice kid and riding on a board that looks like a ironing board. Ross placed 42nd with a time of 82.54 minutes. That's a very good time for such a new rider. Jayson and I wanted to give him a great prize but some our sponsors that promised us gear fell through.

I know times are tough in the kite industry and everyone is feeling the pinch due to the economy. So please give a big woot to our sponsors. http://www.tbkm.org/sponsors.htm We couldn't have done it with out them, especially John, Steve, and Steve-O at Water Sports West. http://www.watersportswest.com

I'm happy to say that Freak Dog Kites lived up to their word and sent us a board that we are giving to Ross as a prize for most improved rider. Thanks AJ at kitericity http://www.kitetricity.com/ and Freakdog Kites http://www.freakdogkites.com/ for the donation. It means a lot to the riders and organizers of our events when sponsors keep their word. I just want to clarify that Freakdog wasn't keeping their word its just other sponsors that we had as advertised as sponsors didn't live up to theirs.

Thanks to all those who made this years race another great event and to the Leroy family for getting the riders from Miami here. Kent, Josh, and Clarissa glad you made it wish we could have waited a 10 minutes more but Damien paid us off. jk

What a great race! I got a chance to meet Ross, extremely nice guy who was probably one of the more pumped riders to be out there (besides myself). Congrats Ross!

Way to go Ross! Congrats man ... it's amazing that i met you less than a year ago in Hatteras when Toby helped you with the basics of kite control.

I have to say it cuz he disserves recognition too... Great job Toby!

Thumbs up Thank yourself my friend...

Thanks for the props Erick and Ross, but the credit and focus should be 100% on Ross' in my opinion. An hour long lesson spent with Ross dwarfs in comparison to all of the time that he has put in on the water grinding it out to get to this level and I was very happy to see him win the very well deserved most improved rider award at this years race. It's just great to see Ross so successful in such a short time, he is the kind of person that sets a great example for others looking to get into the sport and is a very positive addition to our community of kiters...not to mention the fact that he beat my race time by well over 10 minutes!!!
