Default Kiteboarding St. Simons Island, Georgia

:?: I plan to go to St. Simons Island, Georgia on 10/24/06 to go fishing with an old friend for 5 days. Can anyone fill me in on any kiteboarding launches, websites for accurate wind reports, hazards, tides, currents that I need to know. I am an intermediate kiteboarder. Any info would be appreciated, since I am not familiare with area and my fishing buddy is not a kiteboarder. Thanks.

I have never been there myself. Someone else asked about the island a while back. Some related information was passed along at:

Have a good trip,

St. Simons can be a great place on NE-SE winds. North is offshore so be careful. Currents can be kinda weird at times. Jekyll, the next Island south is much better. Kitable in every wind direction and has way more beach for setup. About 20-30 minutes from St. Simons, once on Jekyll, make a left on Beachview, about .5 miles turn into Blackbeards restaurant parking. There is a beach access, once on beach walk north about 100yds. This is where most everyone launches. Good for N-S winds. If there is any W,SW,NW head to south end to St. Andrews Sound picnic area. Good Luck!
