Unfortunately none of these Kevlar booties have split toes, a feature that i cant live without. I found another Kevlar bootie that has thinner soles:
http://www.mec.ca/Products/product_d...45524442334835 Hows this opinion i read on the kiteforum about kevlar: "Unfortunately, bullet resistant vests are not very puncture resistant. The kevlar sheets can dissipate the energy of a slow, stubby projectile (Most pistol rounds), but a knife or an ice pick goes through like buttah (As do rifle rounds). Even worse, Kevlar isn't very UV risistant and numerous other, common substances reduce its effectiveness as well. " .........interesting |

Hey stpetesal I asked a Kiteforum user for review on that Kevlar MEC bootie (more like a sock) and this is what i got:
"This is my 3rd season wearing them. They fit almost like a neoprene sock, although they are cut quite low, so yes they fit well. They are designed for t white water kayaking and their main purpose is to protect your feet which they do quite well. What I like about them is they don't have the rubber sole that most boots have which leaves you with a better feel to the board and that they protect your entire foot not just the sole. We have zebra muscles here that can cut your feet to shreds. They last about a season as eventually the soles wear out. http://www.mec.ca/Products/product_l...=1190459544451 has the listing for this and a whole host of other boots they carry. If you contact them they would be very helpful. " now if only this bootie was a split toe! .............someday |
