Default Too many sharks off of Eggmont........

Bayflight, Eggmont would be cool but way too many sharks out there in the channel. I know people ride from NB to Eggmont when the wind is right and I'm dumb enough to race to it. I guess if you started up North and ended at Eggmont, that would work. My boat holds 6 plus gear for the ride back, if I can convince my girlfriend to drive.

I've gone out to eggmont and back B4 ( on a big windsurfer ) on NW winds from NB. Also done recon with the boat around the island alot. Bottom line is that it won't work. West side is totally unlaunchable/landable, and east side U R restricted to a small patch of sand on the north side since the rest of the island is quarantined by rangers.

Basically the only place you could even be allowed would B the NE corner of the island where the ferry goes and it would have to Bee a N, NE or E wind
with a alot of coordination launching/landing kites

The South corner would B cool since its a big sand bar but its off limits

My brother and I can provide a 26.5 foot COBIA to shuttle back and forth from Egmont to Ft. Desoto. SWEET BOAT!!! Let me know dates and I will give him a heads up! We usually bring a big float, a 3 man tube, a cooler full of beer and water, a portable grill, and hamburgers.

Just let me know... and we will show!

After you've actually stepped foot on the island come on back here and tell us if it is even possible there.

I already know the answer

Smile Egmont Key

Well, I have been to Egmont key twice. There is a bird sanctuary on the south side of the island, we are not allowed there, not even as non-kiteboarders. Its really nasty and smells like bird shit anyway. However, if you go around the back side or front side of the island( east beach or west beach), there are plenty of small patches of open beach to launch your kite from. The currents are incredibly strong around the entire island though... anchoring the boat was a touch challenge.

Plan something, and just let me know. At some point, we plan on taking the boat from Miami to Bahamas as well... kitesurfing along the way.
