In the Western Bahamas the odds are not good for useable wind in that timeframe , then again, some years surprise us. Wind has been less frequent than usual so far this spring however. I will be in the Abacos just before that time and am not planning on taking kiting gear from current indications.
You may or may not have more useable trade winds further down the islands in the Central and Southeastern Bahamas in early summer. It would help to find out where you will be ranging in the Bahamas. If you can manage to bring gear for just in case, that would be a good option to pursue. What do you think AJ and the folks in the Out Islands? If you dive, I would be sure to bring stuff along to have at that. Clear warm water is usually in good supply throughout the Bahamas.

and http://windfinder.com/forecast/georgetown I personally like windfinder better, because it's a bit more flexibly in terms of settings, but they are both very accurate for the next two or three days, maybe changing as few knots here or there on occasion. the Ikitesurf one is owned but exumakitesurfing, I'm not sure if everyone will be able to access it. if you can't acces the ikitesurf one, try going direct from their homepage. www.exumakitesurfing.com ![]() ![]() |

Thanks for the links and commentary! So, for last Saturday the wind archive says you had ESE winds averaging 18 to 20 mph gusting to about 22 to 23 mph. Would you say that is pretty accurate? Are there any wind directions when the accuracy falls off?
If you are an ikitesurf member you can access this station. btw, ikitesurf has added a stupid number of stations, about 4 x more in south Florida. I think these may only be accessible to members.

![]() ![]() Great news, Chris with Bimini Kiteboarding tells me there is a wind station on South Bimini accessible online at: http://southbiminihomeowners.com/weather/ I understand the wind sensor is mounted on a roof with no nearby obstructions so the data should be fairly reliable. Chris said they are working on adding a couple of livecams too, that will be great! ![]()

Hey Rick
Yes the wind station has no near by obstructions so it is very accurate in every wind direction. I will keep you posted when the Live webcams go online. There will be 2 webcams, one that shows the ocean state and one that will show the sky to see when fronts are moving in for pilots that are flying to Bimini. Stay tuned |

Just came across some information on AUTEC or the Fresh Creek area on Andros at XWaters. The seem to have about 5 mph more wind over there than in SE Florida at times.
http://xwaters.com/locations/autec/ They also have information on an area I haven't been to before on Andros, Stafford Creek: http://xwaters.com/locations/stafford-creek-beach/
