Default When board making goes wrong...

Well, I just finished another board for myself but this time I made a few mistakes argh!

I am getting very close to perfecting the gloss. I didn't bother rounding off the rails or sanding down to the rail material... you'll see why further down.

I am trying to perfect the glossy finish with a translucent color.

Jay will love this one. I slipped off the guide while trying to work at night and sunk my router bit right into the rail of the board. F@#$ I had some choice words for that one. Lesson learned. Again. #$%^@. I can fix it when I get more time... will ride it first and then decide.

I also tried a lighter bottom layup and this board has a lot of flex. Seems to work well.

Nah I gave it to inferno to play with. If he fills the gouge with epoxy and sands the rails down it would be an ok board... he seems to like the flex.

Yeah one board got me good. Rode good, except every time I did a port tack, I'd build speed and then wham flat on my face. Back the other tack, everything fine fast with lots of pop ... turn back to port tack, build some speed, wham flat on my face.

Couldn't figure out what was going on until I went back to shore in disgust and discovered that one tip of the board had delaminated and was opening up like a sea anchor once I hit a certain speed.

Only took 5 hi speed face plants to figure that one out.

Forgot to de-wax the bottom of the board before laminating.

Tossed it in the trash when I got home.

I would gladly take broken boards, kites, gear off anyone's hands. I am working on a few things that they could be useful.
Thanks!

Nice.

Tom, your last board was simply awesome.
Why you don't make more, given the fact most boards are overpriced Polish pop-outs is sort of beyond me.
I was just on Imight last night and used 2003 boards are going for 350. I mean...
