i.e. better to go 16m > 10m and 10m > 7 or 8
The reason for this is that force of the wind increases exponentially not linearly as the wind increases
true, but the new small kites have a better range then the big kites...

i can easily ride a 9m waroo from 16-35, but i couldnt hold your 17m from 10-29....

(btw, i find it hard to believe you could ride 17m in 30 knots (36mph)???? im fully powered on a 5m waroo in that)

I'm 215, and there's only been ONE day, since May, that I needed a 9m.

I go directly from the 16 SB2 to the 12 SB2.

I didn't want to but I had no choice, I had to wait for people to come in off the water till there was a kite catcher free. I was the last one in on the last time the 16 waroo went across 3 lanes traffic I-275. bob was there , he caught my kite. like I said, its not fun

yeah, I've used my 9m prolly 18-20x since May. scotts prolly used his more and danny prolly used his 8m once.LOL!
It all depends on how much you get to go out and if you want to use the kite way over the manufacturers intended wind range

I've probably used my 9m about 6 times since May.
I've only had it a few months and there hasn't been much wind.
Danny rode it the first week I had it (that first, 2 hour long strong cold front). He was LITT.

Worst season in 6 years, imo. I actually took all my kites, boards and gear out of my truck for the first time in 2 years a few weeks ago.
They are sitting in the garage. I figure why risk theft for a zero chance of riding.
I usually have all my stuff in there all the time as the odds of riding are usually greater than .034 % (bah wah wah....)

No kidding, for probably the first time or second time in an entire year there is no gear in my trunk.

I even had it in the summer because there was a chance of a sea breeze.

That 08 9m waroo is nuts... rode it in 25+ and got my a$$ handed to me. Seems it's more of a C kite than the old waroos... super fun but at times a lot more than I was prepared for.

Summary: This season sucks so bad I'm going on about pre-season riding.

Funny. It's SO bad, I now think of kiting as something I USED to do, and think back on it with fond memories, much as I do Ultimate frisbee, triathlons, squash, and little league and rover oh rover, come on over! (kill the carrier was the best of all time, though)

Seems like a distant memory. Having fun with my new hobby though, so I could hardly care less at this point.
Still fun to chat with you guys about it (always will be).
