The term "Corkscrew of Death" was created many years ago somewhat in irony to describe what would happen with two line kites and later with four line LEI kites IF something caused the flight lines to become radically uneven.

This could be caused by something as simple as a wrist leash getting caught on the far side on the control bar, a flight line tangle, an emergency depowering failure resulting in a snag or tangle. This possibility alone was a big reason why quite a few riders stopped using wrist leashes.

Sadly, it appears that this phenomena, six years after it was named may have contributed to a severe accident. My sincere regrets and condolences go out to this man's family and friends on their loss.
