Default anywhere with flat water from a reef maybe??

I've never ridden florida.

Ill be in sarasota for half of my trip and will spend the other half of the trip in boyton beach. is there anywhere thats near either of these areas where i could i ride some flat water? i know miami is awesome for flat water but its kinda far to drive. is there anywhere where ther's like a reef a mile out with huge waves and then flat water on the inside between the beach and the reef if so where is it? anywhere that you guys would recomend that i should definately go to when im there? oh and im an intermediate rider. also anywhere that youd recomend doing a downwinder in the shorebreak, I can have someone pick me up downwind.

thanks
-henry

P.S i'll get there tuesday night

For a good downwinder any of the gulf beaches are good for any northwest through south. you dont need a ride back as there is a trolly that runs from pass a grille to clearwater. As for flat water ride at east beach which is good from south through northeast at fort desoto or the skyway north rest stop is a popular launch for all directions

Reef and huge waves in the Gulf....not gonna happen. It would be worth the drive from Sarasota to get to Ft. Desoto or Skyway as mentioned above for flat water. Seabreezes may be the call for the remainder of the week, so wait for them in the afternoon to ride Gulf side.

Check out www.tampabaykiteboarding.com for great links to launch/riding areas and weather links for local wind info.

Have a great trip.

ps. I don't think the trolley's exist in Sarasota, only in Pinellas.

Or if you drive to the other coast check out bathtub beach. shallow, flat water on the inside of the reef and waves on the outside. its near stuart.
