Default any chance to run the gulf...

It looks like the winds gods weren't smiling on us this year. The Naples race had to run backwards, the Jupiter event ran on a week day, and the Tampa race is months late!!!

Rather than having to do it on a week day which is very bad, what do the organizers think of doing the gulf run again? It looks like the wind will be good on Sunday possibly and at least it is on a weekend. Additionally, it looks like Miami will be postponed and there are tons of riders that already bought tickets to come. This could boost Tampa a bit. Any chance? If not, it just seems that we are starting to get late in the season to hold out for a weekend and week days suck. Let us know. Thanks.

Kent

Jay and I are watching the forecast but we still want to have the Bay run. A lot of our riders that entered the race are expecting a Bay run since that's what we had advertised. To switch the game plan to the Gulf would take a lot more effort than most realize and probably piss off a lot of our registered riders.

Support boats, permission from Honey Island Park Rangers, and organizing the finish line after party.

Next year we will not be so dependent on wind direction. We will hold it in the Gulf or Bay, I promise.

Just hang in there guys. We want to make this a great race and not jump into something we weren't planning to run.

Thanks for your patience.
-Chris

PS
The modeling for my forecast just doesn't look that promising for a Gulf run either. http://adds.aviationweather.gov/winds/

A lot of riders that entered are expecting a race, regardless of where.

But I agree with you on this one, Chris. You can't just show up with 100 guys/gals and do a run along the beaches with no notice to the proper people associated with the launch and finish. It's one thing to do that in the winter when the beaches are desolate, but they are totally slammed right now, probably the most I have ever seen. Parking alone would be a major problem.

I fully support your decision Chris and completely understand what your up against. I thought it was worth a try.

If we accomplish one thing with this year's race it's to keep our options open for next year.
