Thumbs up

I have a weather station and so far it's pretty accurate. I just need to have time to get it published to a website.

Where did you install it Chris?

I know that there is a website that lets you uploads all sorts of weather data to their site free of charge for public browsing, I have to try and remember where it is........

Let us know how it goes AJ.
I have been really interested in trying to get a web cam going here (I don't have a clue how, but have voluteered $250 to the cause) for a couple years.
If you guys have success, I sure would be interested in hearing how you did it! Good luck.

This is the extent of my technical knowledge toward stations --

Chris, where is yours set up? If it's working and you need funds to support it's upload, obviously my monetary offer to get just one sensor that is accurate and timely around here stands. Good work if it works! Can we put a webcam on it?

Thumbs up weather rock is so old school.

will do asap.
gota have it.
As far as I know you can connect to weather channel or Ikitesurf noaa..ect
Has to be a good internet connection.(fast) to read all day other wise it will read every few hours.
And then put a link on your web site.
Safer to do it that way because if you connect it to you web site dircetly to the weather info and web cam your prone to hacking.
The web cam (unless )you have a fast broadband connection it will take 1 pic every few seconds it will look lame.
Mateo has a nice one(weather station) but is not internet ready he recons he got it for about $250 internet ready he recons about $350 $400 .
I think it is a worthy investment to save phone calls and wasted trips to the beach and promote your beach. to help pimp ya school.
The web cam will have to be in a weather proof box lexan glass or good plexy (easy to make)

I agree that's it's a great investment, especially for a school or shop. Been hoping for a webcam forever, I just don't have the techie skills to do it.
I personally trust pictures more than numbers off a sensor, plus it's obvious when a cam breaks, but a sensor might just "be off" and it's mounting location is prone to make it read high or low, whereas as long as there is no obstruction, the cam will show the riding spot's water texture. (no calibration or mounting issues if clear view of location, is my point).
Plus, you can watch your buds while stuck at work or vice versa.

I figure if it is capping I can ride. I may not know if it's 13 or 30, but I can rig accordingly when I get there. We have a couple sensors here notorious for reading high and causing goose chases.

We have a news sponsored beach cam that takes 1 pic every 3 minutes and it's actually reasonable. I use it alot.1 reasonable rez pic every few seconds would be awesome.

I am really interested in hearing about you guys doing this (and your success).

Talking land of plenty

gday skyway scott
your in the land of plenty and should have no problem finding all of the stuff you need to make it happen.
sharper image west marine should have the weather stuff radio shack the web cam and extra cable and you can make your weather proof box up.
pluss it will be 50% cheaper for you to do it there than us to do it here.
because you don't have to pay duty on it.
check out weather.com to see what you have to do to link your weather station.
mabe go to one of those hock shops and buy a second hand lap top to conect it to so it doent matter if it gets hacked into.
