Default Into the Blue Wild Show This Weekend

This dive show starts tonight with a kickoff party and runs through Saturday and Sunday with exhibits, speakers, panel discussions, movies and more. It is being held in Ft. Lauderdale, FL at the Convention Center. IF you are going remember to bring IDs for all the folks in the car to avoid security hassles with the deputies at the gate of Port Everglades.

Lots of famous divers are in the schedule and interesting discussions. There is an excessive fixation on promoting depletion of already depleted and stressed benthic fin fish and bottom communities. This seems to be the main promotional "hook" for the expansion of diving with some. Hopefully they'll see the light once it becomes more obvious and dismal, ideally without still harsher lessons for all of us from the Deep Horizon oil spill. Why ski or snowboard if you can't blow away caribou and moose on the mountain? Must be more to the experience. Same is true of diving and in particular free diving.
