Default Huguenot Park Access Still Threatened, Here's What We Need To Do.

Marc just sent this in from Kitester (Paul) in JAX. :

With regards to Huguenot Park kiting access -

"As you all know we have been fighting the fight to keep the park open and available to all who want to kite there. Last week there was a very important meeting during which we gained some some local and state support. The temporary bird fence is up to keep people from driving through the baby birds. Today that will include the whole pond side as some of the baby birds were seen on that side as well. The best kiting is still on the point and the closest access is on the Atlantic side in zone 12, just past the last trash can near the north end.

The general rule to kite the park is do not go close enough you might cause the birds to fly off or baby birds to run. Right now, there is heightened awareness on the part of the Audubon and they are looking for ANY "photo op" to prove that kiters or anyone else should be removed from the park.

All places are available inside the park to kite EXCEPT the area beyond the protective baby bird fence.

To kite the point....
YOU MUST WALK PAST THE LAST LIFEGUARD STAND. ABSOLUTELY NO INFLATED KITES OVER THE SAND OR INSIDE OF THE BREAK IN THAT AREA.

That means don't even walk back with an inflated kite under your arm through that area.
Let the air out if you have to come ashore inside that area and walk out.
I tried to explain about not herding the baby birds, but it seems people don't get it.
SO, no more kiting launching, riding or landing (unless its an emergency)
between the last lifeguard and the bird fence on the Atlantic side."
