Do you guys use iKitesurf? If so, which sensor to you find most reliable (they seem kind of bad). I am in sarasota for the holidays and would love to get some kiting in.

For the Skyway area (NE, E wind directions) use this sensor

http://www.srh.noaa.gov/data/obhistory/KSPG.html

and add about 25% to the wind speed.
So if it's saying 10 there, it's probably 13 at the SW.
If it's saying 16, it's 20.

The PaG sensor - average the lulls with the average... that's closer to the average than the "average". Ignore the direction it tells you it's blowing.
For the Clearwater sensor, it's just a tad high, but pretty close.

In general, our sensor situation is poor here and you have to factor the info provided with experience combining that with "real wind" given by riders.
Some of the sensors only update every 2 hours (which is semi useless) or just give bad information.
Still, once you understand what you are working with and don't just take it at face value, it's better than nothing.

I usually just look at a few trees in my yard, this link (ad free) http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/maps/Central_Florida.shtml and the Baynews9 beach cam to figure it out.
The best is when someone calls or posts to say it's blowing.
