Default Jupiter Kite Invasion ... Day II 2005

JUPITER KITE INVASION - DAY II

A night of strong winds had kicked up some major surf. The wind eased with the sunrise and the riders tackled the day with 11 m and larger kites. Surf riding is about to go off!

Francisco barrels in before the wave.

Soup's on, BIG, white and foamy just the way you like it!

Putting things in perspective ...

Feels like a great day coming on.

It looks like the surfers are running to catchup with Bob Sealman.

I told myself that I would start to give riders in helmets better coverage last year. Leaders need encouragement too, right? Franscisco made it easy serving up some great shots. Many riders provided some great views of the riding.

David, Francisco and Bob line up through the waves.

David walking off into the sun. I have been seeing David at kiteboarding events for years.

Jeremy, event organizer with Florida Kiting having a blast, what a day!

Francisco lobs one up.

Andy moves on.

Andrea sets up to go.

Jessie transitions

Looking big out there, Bryan Greenwald having fun in a world of foam.

Dimitri throws one.

Nicci Warshauer walks along to launch.

This may be Antoine Jaubert flying along the wave.

Jeremy surfs on.

Minda Bly walks with Ray Leroy. Ray is the brother of champion rider Damian Leroy with Cabrinha.

Brain Lake surf skimboarding

Mikey Bradley striding up to launch.

Explosion!

Hey, will someone get Bill Parker down? His arms have got to be getting tired.

Breathhold kiteboarding?

Too much fun ...

Brad slides through a torrent of cascading ice, or so it seems.

How to get over this?

Big surf running.

Jon Modica shows off his riding ware from DC Kiteboards

The guys made riding in heavy surf look easy, most of the time. Dimitri is heading back out. I was impressed at how some normal flat water riding guys, like Brad down in the Keys and Francisco tore up the waves. They both come from surfing and I guess it just comes back.

Brad flys in.

Mikey hops an incoming swell.

Jon running through some nice waves.

Andy Hurdman gets ready to launch.

Mikey stretches through the tube.

Andy walks off.

FLORIDA KITING

Thanks to Jeremy and Dave at Florida Kiting for putting on this event and to all the judges and volunteers that made this great event possible.

That's a first look, more to come from all three days of this event.
