Default seabreeze

I rode a nice seabreeze for a few hrs down in sarasota at the mouth of big pass. Nicely powered on a 15 waroo. Fizzled out at around 6.

But...Where in the hell is the wind? Forecast looks terrible no fronts!

Default wind here

its right in front of you.

just Bcause there is no forecast for wind doesnt mean there is none.

afternoon seabreezes have been going OFF for the last 3 days!

hopefully we'll get some more this weekend ( especially since its dry and slowly warming ( east tampa bay likes this ) which are the conditions that set up the afternoon winds ).

Yeah, the last three days have been epic (even though I missed them, I hear about them).

Like Raul said, forecasts don't mean jack this time of year.
It's seabreeze season. It'll usually blow real hard for about 2.5 hours, and then it is over. When I posted yesterday, the cam was showing 15+ and had a rider (I think Mark Olsen) ripping it up for about 2 hours.

If it starts off E or NE at 10 or better at the SW and then goes to absolute zero or N, start driving . The seabreeze usually spikes from 5 knots to 15 or 20 in a matter of minutes, and then dies, almost as quickly (over a matter of 15 minutes) out at the beaches. PaG gets the most wind of just about anywhere on seabreezes. Don't bother with Treasure Island (right Tom?).
I never look at forecasts this time of year, since cold fronts are going to become less likely as we move on. I do hope for high pressure though, and NO rain. That's a ways away, but, imo, that's a real seabreeze killer starting in early summer.

We are also entering night ride season, where the winds can pick up outta' the east at night, usually around 1 hour after sunset. Night riding rocks (unless you participate in the sport to be seen)

This time of year is definitely Johnny on the spot mode, but, imo, there is actually more wind (days per week), during the spring, than anytime of year. The trick is timing.

Then of course, we have summer. Summer ROCKS..... for tarpon fishing.

So march means end of cold fronts getting down here? Bummer. I am gonna go insane in the summer with no kiteboarding. I think I am addicted.

Not the end, but less for sure. Yeah, more than likely, pick up another hobby (wakeboarding, maybe) or wind-dancing naked... in the summer.

Or just hit St. Augustine. I rode on average 4 days a week there, last summer.
Several of you visited. As I recall, no one got skunked.
If you do get skunked, big deal. Surf or hit the town. It's gorgeous there. Great place to relax.

Yeah, seabreezes from here on out. Today seems possible.
Sunday looks good (whatta surprise).

Once the SW goes to zero, start drivin', Bryan. Check out yesterday. Seems counter-intuitive to get amped over zero. But I pray for zero at the SW, this time of year.
Not a guarantee of a seabreeze, but if you wait for the sensors to show it, you usually already missed it.
