Default Kiteboarding or Parasailing accident?

Published in Tuesdays St. Petersburg Times 3/1/05

Man breaks leg in parasailing accident

TAMPA - A 31-year old Tampa man broke his leg Sunday in a parasailing accident at the dead end of Cypress Street. (Close to TIA, good kiteboard spot) According to Tampa Police, Kent Kardama was parasailing just before 4 p.m. when the wind picked up his parachute and began carrying it inland. He let go of the parachute, but a guideline attached wrapped around his leg, reports state. Kardama slammed into a steel pole and broke his leg. He was taken to a hospital for surgery.

Anybody have more information?

Thanks for the heads up Paul. I sent out some inquiries when you first posted this. I agree, it sounds like a kiteboarding accident to me as well. Has anyone heard anything else about this?

Default It was a kiteboarding accident

Hi. I'm a friend of the gentleman discussed in the article. For the record, yes it was a kiteboarding accident, but more importantly, his name was Kardama Kent, not Kent Kardama. Unfortunately, he passed away September 30, 2005. He was a good friend, and as I think about him a lot, I thought I googled his name... which is how I found this post... and I thought it important to clarify that his first name was Kardama.
