Is Fort Desoto a Florida State Park? If so, inquire about an annual Florida State Park pass. Roy and I have one to use here, and it saves the $3.00 park entry fee each time we go, and it's good for any Florida State Park. Cost less than $50.

Question mixed feelings...

I have mixed feelings on this... One one hand, I go there ALOT and wouldn't like paying that much extra, even with SunPass discount. On the other, maybe it could help reduce the number of kites occasionally, which equals more space for the rest of us.

Also, just thought of this... could make the, already frequently crowded, Skyway a bit busier.

I am pretty sure it's a Pinellas County park.

Bummer. Too bad they don't establish a Pinnellas County park pass, as that could get expensive for you guys.

i'd like the idea of a yearly family pass..

i dont think the goal is to thin out the visitors.. but to simply pay for needed upkeep and all that..

i'd pay 30$ per year for a pass.

i think most of us would...

tho i've not gone but a couple times this entire last year... i typically hit skyway cuz its so close.

You might be right, Adam.
To me, the increase in toll isn't that big a deal. It's less of a fee than paying the stupid tolls out along the beach, and we park 30 feet from where we rig.
EB is probably one of the better spots in all of Florida.
Anyway, I will gladly pay the "park and ride" fee for that place. I pay more for Blue Flag right now in the meter and I have to carry my stuff way out there.
A pass would be nice for frequent visitors. They should have one of those for the beach parking meters too.

There is an annual pass for $50, but if the tolls increase, that fee will be raised to $125. The thing is, it doesn't sound like the increase has anything to do with Fort Desoto itself. Its about paying for the area bridges to be replaced. If it were for the park, say to avoid the trolley and other Disneyworld type attractions they had talked about last year, I'd be happy to pay even more than that.

I'll pay whatever. We all USE the bridges, cause wear and tear on them, why shouldn't we have to contribute to their replacement cost if we want to use them?

Just playing devil's advocate Toby.
Because we pay 7% sales tax and property taxes?
And FL. makes dough off the lottery and now legalized gambling?
R those reasonable answers? LOL..... :-P
