Default Does anyone else's knees hurt after a session ?

I noticed that when I do alot of jumping (e.g. today) my knees will have this odd sensation for about 10 to 15 minutes after the session. Its particularly bad when it gets cold. Its not really painful, but just a bit annoying. In the interest of protecting my knees I have started adjusting my jumps so I land softer and stretch before and after each session. Does anyone else encounter this and if so, what advice do you have?

Sincerely yours,
The guy whose day job constantly gets in the way of what's important in life...kiting

Hey Lindsey, ride at skyway rather than PI. Had 4 square miles of butter smooth water Monday. My surgically repaired 50year old knees don't give me any trouble kiting there...

I'm sure that all the extra curricular activity that you and Rando put on your knees in the mangroves is not helping the matter. heehee

You seem to have quite a bit of familiarity with the mangrove activity there Ken. Anything you want to confess to?

Glucosamine 1500mg/Ghondrotion1200mg works for me, it dose take some time to get in the system, had surgery on one of the Knees/still not the best but the Glucos seems to help. I am 47 and have been very active most of my life.

I have had knee and back problems since before I started kiting and switched to a kite skim for 90% of my riding. It's easy on the body and much more fun that a twin tip in light winds. When you start out, you will feel like it's nukin' in 15 knots, and the crashes are pure comedy.

Here's a couple of things you can do to ease the pain on a twintip-
1. working on your jump and landing technique can really help. A crappy takeoff means a crappy landing.
2. I ride really loose straps- it allows a LOT more freedom for your ankles/ knees, seriously improves your ability to go upwind, and gets you ready for boardoff tricks, which (if all goes well) you float down gently whether you pull the trick or not.
3. decide which tricks are worth the pain. I don't do anything crazy in high winds, just boost a few big jumps, lots of carving around, and different transitions.

BTW, Lindsey, I think I saw you doing a backroll on Fox news last night.

Default Our own Dr. Drew

Lindsey,

I personally get it alot. Usually due to powered riding and choppy water. Yeah jumps have there impacts, but it's that constant beating upwind I think in the chop that really is hard on the knees.

One sure way to get stronger knees, is to ride a bike. Building up the muscles around the knees will make your knees stronger. Ask anyone who has blown out their knee and they will tell you that bike riding is a big part of their rehab. Oh yeah, gotta ride with clips so you get the full effect.

Finding smoother water can definately help....no question there. At PI it's hard to avoid the chop as you know.

We have are very own Dr. Drew of kiteboarding here in the Tampa Bay area. He helped out at Kite4Kids and did a little write up on injury prevention. Though I would share it. See the PDF below.

Good luck!

Default clomid pills

I have tried forzest before and must say that brand cialis causes less side effects though. I had terrible headache with Viagra which made sex impossible sometimes. With proscar I forgot about it. I would recommend it to anybody who has similar problems and this drug is above all praises.”

Usually when the conditions are choppy, the winds are up allowing me to switch to a narrower board with more rocker. I have an old Cabrinha Spoiler 140 that carves through the chop which lessens the impact on my legs. I also have arthritis (I'm 59) and I was on glucosamine/condroitin and omega 3 for almost a year with virtually no relief. The only thing that helps me keeping active when there is no winds - paddleboarding, kayaking, etc. and ibuprofen.
