Steady 25 knots of wind, beautiful weather and sunny skies set the battlefield for the second and final round of the PKRA freestyle competition today. Damien Leroy pushed it hard from the bottom of the ladder advancing through 8 heats then had the wipe out of the contest when he caught his edge on a mobe and became tangled in his leash with his kite powered, tumbling him over 100 feet before his kite finally de-powered, fortunately he walked away unharmed.

Ruben Lenten rode consistently, pulling a Pete Rose, KGB and kite loop handle pass in his heat, landing him third on the podium.

Cesar Portas fought hard from the bottom of the ladder all the way to the final against Aaron Hadlow, pulling a double handle pass that sent the crown into a frenzy. Aaron answered back with a double s-bend to blind and several kite loop handle passes which earned him a well-deserved and undisputed first place.

Jo Wilson rode hard pulling a nice s-bend to blind; unfortunately it wasn’t enough to land her on the podium. Angela Peral did several big air tricks and pulled a sick railey to blind landing her third place on the podium. Anna Grezlinska battled it out move for move with Kristin Boese but in the end was over taken by the German Kristin Boese, who’s training paid off as she handle-passed her way to first place on the podium.

The perfect wind and flat-water conditions spurred the competitors on to levels not yet seen in any PKRA freestyle event.

Today’s action was truly epic.

skies eventually turning to sunny with steady 20 knots of wind graced the Margarita Kitesurf Kicker Slider Park for the PKRA kicker slider competition.

Bertrand Fluery pulled several 360’s on top of the “A” frame slider in his warm up runs.

Denver Coon busted some giant toe side 3’s off the kicker.

Ruben Lenten hit every obstacle on the course with speed and precision.

Aaron Hadlow did several handle pass 3’s off the kicker and a nice 3 off the end of the 4-step slider.

Leshai Miller pulled a nice 3 off the end of the flat slider.

Kristen Boese, Tuva Jensen and Gabi Steindl rode the sliders and did jumps off the kickers although Jensen was the only girl to ride completely across the “A” frame slider.

Tomorrow will wrap up the slider contest.
