Default Question: Replacing ChickenLoop Line

West Marine has 2000# double-braid lines w/ 2.4% stretch at 15% max load.

is this acceptable for CL replacement?

any other suggestions?

thx..

Brian,
Are you using the Best bar? I'd like to see what you have planed. I'd like to do the same, but am not sure how to replicate the release.

Why not just get the upgrade kit and make use of the stopper ball system?
It's plain sweet

I put one on a SS bar recently (in photo)

Just use licorice. It stretches a little but you can nibble on it if you get hungry during the session.

waroo upgrade =99$
3 ft. of dyneema 7400 lb line = 6$

i have 2 waroo bars already.. when one goes sour i'll get the new upgrade..
the stopper will be great for the lightwind days..

i posted this same question on kiteforum and got this link:

If you don't like an easily moved stopper ball, the upgrade is a waste of time for sure. Ever since I saw the first TD bar, I modified it and have been making "homemade" versions of this dynamic active stopper ball idea for about a year now on all my bars and love it.

To each his own on the idea. I think it's the best idea in kiting I have seen in awhile. SS came up with it on the TD bar and now Best has a kit available.
It is actually cheaper for me to buy the kit than the component parts (pull/pull strap, swivel, stopper ball, c loop, line, pig tails... etc) so I know Danny and myself are pumped about it

In terms of winds, I find a dynamic stopper highly valuable in high winds, especially when gusty. I don't see the need to move it around much at all in light wind (except maybe at self landing time).

dont get me wrong.. i rode the new best bar for over an hour last saturday and loved it! i have rigged homemade stopper on my bar but it really didnt work too well.

right now tho, i didnt put a clear sheething over my CL line on one of my bars and the line is showing wear.. ill get the upgrade kit later when my wallet is feeling better.

hehe..

Bob.. I am going to use the CL from my Best bar .. it has a small loop above the main loop that you clip into. I am going to secure a bowline on that and put a stopper ball above it. if this does not make sense, find me at the skyway this weekend.
