Great visuals in this clip although you may want to turn the volume down, fair warning. Good to see he is still at it, I used to have an Eskimo sail or two.

Do they have nice waves out there or what? When was the last time you had a ride like this off Ft. Lauderdale? Understand JL Hanalei and Mano boards show up in the action.

Makes you wonder, do killer whales like surfers, especially all wrapped up in black neoprene like seal sashimi on a float? If you stare at the dorsal fin long enough it may turn into something else? Images from Robert Smallwood at Dee Why in Australia. You blokes can't cut a wave to save yourselves, let me show you how its done. I like to do this too ending with a forward flip riding in feet first or in this case, fin first? http://thescuttlefish.com/2010/11/ki...hales-surfing/

Some strong cold fronts are moving through these days and bringing some nice swells at times. The last two days were like that. Monday was near epic but unfortnately I failed to take a camera on the commute to the office. Fixed that yesterday on Tuesday and got some photos.
First ... The second shot in the sequence. Good to keep your distance.

It isn't standup but more tow-in. The things that make it novel include it was at night and at Jaws in Maui, HI.
"Surfer becomes first to ride giant 'Jaws' waves at night By: Pete Thomas, GrindTV.com Night surfing is eerie even in small waves, so imagine the sensation of careening down sheer and heaving faces measuring 30 feet, atop a black ocean, at a Hawaiian reef break so notoriously it's called Jaws. Australian big-wave surfer Mark Visser, using specially engineered LED lighting built into his buoyancy vest and board, became the first to night surf at Jaws off Maui, during an admittedly scary and ultra-surreal session at about 2 a.m. Thursday. Visser, 28, was towed onto the waves via jet-powered watercraft, as all surfers are during big winter swells at Jaws, because the swells travel too swiftly to be caught by paddling. " http://www.grindtv.com/surf/blog/237...aves+at+night/ Mark in a dinky 36 ft. (looks larger!) in Oz during daylight by contrast. http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/ http://surf.co.nz/blogs/surf-search/2009/12/697-jaws .

It isn't standup but is more like tube sponging? Really shows off what you can do with a GoPro ...
