Default Cypress - is it closed?

I saw the thread about it being closed. Any confirmation on that?

I called the Tampa Parks dept. and they supposedly gave me the number of the park supervisor, I think his name is Al Young 931-2126, but all it does is ring with no voicemail. I'll try contacting the parks again b/c after my experience tonight at Picnic Island I would much rather be able to ride Cypress.

There is a tiny sign at cypress that says beach closed, But I don't think it is beng inforced, I have been there twice since the sign and no problems, I think they had to put the sign up for legal popuposes.

Rob,
The beach at Cypress was occupied this weekend with many beach goers. They were on the southside facing the Howard Franklin. Give me a call next time and we will give it a go...

I finally got a hold of someone at the Tampa Parks Dept and she said they are not enforcing the closure yet as the work has not begun. She said it should start in a few weeks and then the beach would be closed. Damn, I just had a blast at Cypress today!
